I got a great surprise in my inbox this morning; a CFWJ success story. Here’s hoping the rest of you can find similar success in the new year!

Hey CFWJ:

I thought I’d let you know a success story. I applied for a position with an ad agency that you posted about, and ended up getting called in for a couple-of-week copywriting contract. Good stuff.

This contract finished up as the holidays approached, but the company then offered me a full-time position starting in January. The challenge is immense, but the gig is too attractive to pass up, so I accepted their offer and I begin full-time, first week of January. I’m very pleased.

I just wanted to thank you again for maintaining the blog for Canadian freelancers, given that my RSS feeds missed the posting in question, and had I not found it via your site, I would not be stepping into this great opportunity.

As I’ve said before, I’ve found your blog to be an excellent resource, especially in lean freelancing times, and hope others find as many opportunities as I have via your posts.

Take good care, happy holidays, and thanks again.

Before I depart for the family igloo for the holidays, I thought I’d share this wonky little holiday gem I found online with my writing family. Warning- your brain may hurt after viewing. Also, turn down your speakers until after the “James Bond” bit to avoid blowing them out.

Welcome to the longest night of the year, and the official beginning of winter. Ah, winter… frostbite, ice on car windows, and tons of car accidents; all good reasons to be home writing!

Have a great Yuletide, everyone. CFWJ will be on hiatus until next Monday, December 28th.
